Illums is one of the leading department stores in Copenhagen. On an average day, about 10,000 shoppers visit the spacious roof-top restaurant at Illums. The specifying company, Kay Wilhelmsen, wanted a tough finish to protect the floor from the extremely high level of wear in the restaurant.

The parquet floor had already been treated with an UV-finish at the factory but this type of finish is not usually strong enough to withstand heavy wear over long periods. The manufacturer therefore recommended overcoating with D-503 Pacific Strong - Bona's hard-wearing water-borne finish. When the parquet floor was in place, it was carefully abraded and two coats of D-503 Pacific Strong were applied.
